Lenore Neville – Clinical Social Worker
Lenore has degrees in Psychology and Social Work and is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with over 20 years of experience and further training in counselling. She has worked with young people, adults and families in university and school counselling, hospital, psychiatric and community settings, most recently at headspace Warwick where she has been for the past 7 years.
Accredited Mental Health Social Workers are registered providers with Medicare Australia. They help individuals resolve psychological and emotional problems and associated social issues, and improve their quality of life. This may involve family as well as individual counselling and group work. Social workers recognise the interplay between the individual and family, friends, education, work and other factors in their lives.
Like other allied health professionals, such as psychologists, Accredited Mental Health Social Workers use a range of interventions in helping people with mental health issues, including the following focused psychological strategies:
Lenore favours a strengths-based/ solution-focused perspective and has had extensive training in Family Therapy, CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and emotion-regulation and stress management techniques such as Mindfulness, Relaxation and Clinical EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). She has also found that the Nurtured Heart Approach® offers a beautiful model for parenting, teaching and other relationships, because of its emphasis on fostering Inner Wealth® through giving energy to the positive rather than the negative and offering very practical strategies.
Lenore believes therapy is about connection, trust and respect for the client and family, noticing successes, values and unique qualities, facing difficulties, learning new skills for life, working towards goals and dreams..... and also having some fun.
She has particular interest in helping children and adults relieve symptoms of trauma, anxiety, stress and anger, and develop positive relationships and a deep sense of self-worth.
